We have an area on our property that is about 3/4 acre, I'm guesstimating. It is full of rocks, ranging from gravel sized to grapefruit sized. I'm thinking that a landscape rake would be the best attachment for clearing that area of rocks.

Is that correct? Or is there something better I could use?

IF you can find a place to rent one, get a power rake it will remove the stones from the top 2"-3" and leave the soil redy for grass seed

Those grapefruit sized rocks might be a problem for the landscape rake. I have a similar situation and just ordered a tooth bar for my loader bucket. I thought by rolling the bucket with the teeth in close contact with the ground(rocks) I should be able to unearth them and place them in the bucket for removal. I'll let you know how well it works in the Spring!

There is an attachment called a "rock picker". Depending on the number of rocks that are grapefruit size, this also might be a good solution. I know they are very expensive to purchase - and you may be able to rent one.

I use a landscape rake.

Another option is a scarifier/landscape rake combo, such as the Landpride SF2566-77 and 25 series rake. These implements can be used separately or in tandem.

Since I can't afford the right tool for this job I have the best luck with the landpride pulverizer. I can rake them to one spot and then what the loader does not scoop up leaves alittle hand work.

And what would the "right tool" be?
