best BX Aerator $200 - 600? 3PT vs tow?

I have searched the forums but need some help. Is a 3PT hitch or tow behind better? I would prefer a 3PT unless the tow models have some advantage I haven't thought about. I would like a good unit but I don't want to spend over 1000 for a unit I will use twice a year. Any recommendations for a BX? I am not a welder so if I get a 3PT I would like it to just bolt up.

I bought an Agri Fab 48" tow along core aerator but modified it to mount on the 3pt hitch.
By far, having it on the 3pt is the most convenient way to go albeit with a minor change in procedure.
When its a tow along, you can run rings, circles, and have full flexibility. When its mounted on the 3pt, you can ONLY go in straight lines. Thats the only disadvantage I've found.
For the up side, you have far less manual handling and can add a bit more weight to the aerator helping to get deeper with the tines.

I bought the 48" agri-fab from Lowes and drilled holes in the tray to mount it to my carryall. Add 4 bags of concrete and I have a <$400 3pt aerator. Put the tongue back on and loan it to friends to drag behind their tractor/atv.

I have a 6ft ferguson aereator. It is 3pt. Has cast rotary 6" tines (kinda curved) does not pull plugs. Fairly light maybe 300 lbs. but has rakes for cement blocks built in. It is in good shape. I don't use it and could help you out. PM if your interested. Hope it is not against practice to post items that I would sell here but I really intend on helping someone if they can use it. I paid 100.00 that is all I want.

Turf Vent has a 3PT 48" model from Gemplers for $605. Anyone have any feedback on these? If not I will get one soon so I will post some feedback and
pics.

I have rented one of the TurfVent tow-behind aerators & was very satisfied, seemed very solid. But since I can rent the tow-behind for $20/day, there isn't much point to me buying one.

I bought a $200 3pt one but it has smaller spoons & didn't seem to do as good of a job (I have to carefully run it in reverse to really have any effect on the lawn).
