Best Lawnmower to prevent scalping

What's the best way to go to reduce lawn scalping. Buy a 42 inch riding lawnmower with duel blades and anti scalping wheels or a smaller 30 inch rear engine riding mower without the anti scalping wheels.
Would putting anti scalping wheels on a 30" single blade riding mower be the best way to eliminate scalping?

Scalping is most commonly caused by cutting too short over too rough of terrain with too large of a mower to travel with the terrain. Ultimately the ideal fixes are to raise the cut height and/or smooth the ground. When you scalp with any mid-mounted mower, you're near high centering the machine on the deck.

How undulating is your turf?

How large an area?

I agree with Sysop, if a deck as small as 42" is scalping you need to address the real problems cutting too short or smooth out the lawn. If your lawn is smooth you should be able to use a 54 or 60" mower deck without problems.

20" push mower. These rarely scalp unless your lawn is real rough.
