What is the text book and best method to bush hog? I am cutting alot of open fields on rolling terrain. I have tired splitting a bock of field which allows me to keep cutting in the same direction each pass. I have also tried it with each pass going back against the grain. I have noticed that when I go back against the grain, the grass I pushed down with my wheels is stood back up by the front of the cutter. It does slow me down a little. I have a 10' pull cutter that is obviously wider than my wheels. Any thoughts?

well my father always tought me to never go back the opposite direction when brushogging, like go in circular squares in the field instead up doing a 180 turn and going back down the same row. the reason for this is that in heavy grass and briars, or especialy brush, all the stuff will be laying down towards you and much more likely to poke a hole in the radiator. on the old fords the radiator was not well protected so you had to be carefull. of course twice we still managed to put a hole in the radiator, but im sure it would have been alot more often if i hadnt followed his advice.
