I am looking to replace my oil and fuel filters on my 5103. I found 2 filter the Baldwin B7306 and the Donaldson P550758. These filters only filter the oil to 40 microns which is not much. Does any one know of any better filtering oil filters out there for this application? I am looking for the lowest micron rating.

I am not sure which fuel filter to go with I think mine is a RE60021 (it was painted over when i bought it) the cross ref to baldwin is BF7675-D and Donaldson P550351-d which is rated at 5 microns (10 microns @100%).

Any input on the hydro filter i came up with a Baldwin BT8309-MPG which has a 25 micron rating.

Any input will greatly help!

Check NAPAFILTERS.com they carry a lot of off highway/ag filters. Do the filter lookup and select your model tractor, all the filters they have will be listed. Or, check with your local JD dealer.

The "best" filters will match the OEM filters specs. Lower micron ratings for engine oil and hydraulic suction filters can be overly restrictive and do more harm than good. Meets or exceeds" is a marketing phrase that invites readers to think that "exceeds" is better, in many instances it is not.

I would suggest going with JD filters. Here is link to JDparts to get your filter numbers. As already suggested going with to low a micron rating can be hard on the engine and hydraulic pump.

On replacing the fuel filter, if you fill the new one before putting on, you may not even need to prime it in order to get started.

Have used WIX filters in my three JD tractors with no problems!

I "think" NAPA filters are manufactured and are the same as WIX filters. Both are high quality filters...

NAPA Gold filters are Wix. NAPA Silver line filters are not. Just for further clarification.

Here's what I have found so far;

Oil - P550758 (DONALDSON) or B7306 (BALDWIN)
FUEL- BF7673-D (BALDWIN)
HYDRO- BT8309-MPG (BALDWIN)
AIR - INNER, P829333 (DONALDSON)
OUTER, P828889 (DONALDSON)

These are cross references for the JD parts. John Deere does not make its own filters, they are made by other major filter companies to JD's specs. So if these cross reference then I'll go with them because they are easier for me to get and cheaper.

I found JD filters to be cheaper than the ones from the auto parts stores for my 4200.
