While doing my 100 hr maintenance on my BX2200 it says to soak the air filter in detergent for 15 minutes, rinse it and let it air dry. Has anyone tried this? It looks like a paper filter to me. I am concerned that it may cause the filter element to deteriorate. I didn't take a chance with mine, I replaced it. I think I paid about $11 for the filter from the local Kubota dealer.

I believe that in some markets, Kubota might use a polyurethane foam filter that is cleaned in soapy water and then "oiled". My old Bolens tractors had this type of filter that went over the paper filter. I haven't had mine off yet, so I can't tell if Kubota might have used this set up also.
