Yesterday a friend from work had to put his dog down and I volunteered the use of my post hole digger and farm to bury her at. I just bought my PHD and have practiced digging 2 holes with it and so I am still trying to learn the operation. My question is in which hole location should I attach the implement in in order to get the maximum depth when operating the unit?

As you can see this is the top link location and I have a choice of 3 holes. My thinking is if I attach it in the lowest hole then the boom would be able to be lifted at the highest angle, thus resulting in the highest possible lift. So it seems then if I attach it at the highest of the 3 holes I would not get as much upward lift and this I should get the maximum lowest depth. Does that sound correct?

I run mine for decades, on the middle hole. The auger is only so long, I get three foot holes that are a leeetle bit over three feet deep.

I run mine on the bottom hole because it allows the tip of the Aulger to be further off the ground when the 3 point is raised. Tangles up in stuff less. With that said it probably stops it from digging quite as deep by a couple inches also.
