I called one MF dealer who told me I should get a Woods 5 ft brush bull and my tractor cant handle a 6 ft in heavy grass. Called another dealer that said my best choice would be a 6 ft bush hog and there is plenty of power to handle it. I mainly cut tall heavy growth . Any suggestions would be helpful even between Woods or Bush hog brand ,or even Rhino

At 27 HP at the PTO I would go with a 5' Cutter. Woods or Land Pride.

Tall and heavy doesn't necessarily mean hard to cut. Tall weeds cut easily, tall grass not so much. I think I would go with the 6 foot size and if the going gets tough, just overlap a bit. That way in easy mowing, you will have the extra width.

I agree, go with the 6', you can adjust with the conditions.

I gotta agree with Murph. Unless your just cutting light stuff I would stay away from the 6 footer. A friend of mine has a Deere 990 which is 35 pto hp and it really struggles in the heavy grass. But if your always just going to cut light stuff you might be ok. Problem is that most people that buy a hog normally cut tall heavy grass at times.

Even though I was told my tractor would spin a 6 footer, I ended up buying a BB60X. I liked the fact that it was as wide as my tractor, as I spend quality time cutting trails in the woods where it can get tight.

Kind of nice knowing I won't hang it up if my tractor fits between the trees...

A good example is a guy I know mows grass around his house. Maybe 3-4 acres worth of grass. He always keeps it mowed so in this case 6' in fine which allows him to cut faster. But if you plan to do heavier stuff too then probably should lean toward a 5' unit. Another factor is how heavy of a cutter are you looking at? If your looking at heavier units BH 286 and 296 equivalents then the weight can become a issue plus they have stouter gear boxes which take a little more juice to operate. i see you have a loader and that helps with front weight plus the MF tractor is heavy for it size too so provided you stay with a light duty cutter and only cutting light grass you would be ok. If you want good cutting power and need to use it in tighter area plus want a unit thats more manageable then the 5' is the one for you. Hope we give you some items to think about anyways. Good luck.

I can see support for both 5 and 6 ft and still not sure but now leaning toward 5 ft even though it will not quite cover the tracks . Going out today to check out Bush Hog and Rhino and this MF dealer thinks I need a 6 ft , the other MF dealer is pushing a 5 ft Woods . I just don't want to end up kicking myself in the arss for not buying the best one and the grass is growing like weeds
