I have a Ranger 500. My grandkids love to run it on my beach. They leave huge ruts. I've tried dragging a 6ft 3" piece of angle, but it is not very good. They also have a motorcycle track in the dirt which gets big ruts and needs to be smoothed.
What would be a good tool to drag either behind the Ranger or a large ATV?
Thanks, Mike

Hi Mike.

Try taking a look at this youtube video: YouTube - ATV Box Blades and Grader Blades

The companies website is: Atv Plows Plus

If you're looking to do it on a budget then a heavy piece of metal RSJ / girder should work on the sand, although you may need to scuff it up to loosen it first - maybe try dragging a chain harrow, then your piece of angle?

Hope this helps

I use a DR Power Grader behind my RTV 500 and it works great....they aren't cheap but they do come up used for a fair price pretty often.

For smoothing sand, try dragging a reasonably large section of chain link fencing.
You will want to have a rigid pull bar that might simply be 2 flats (or one and a similar angle) bolted thru the chain link fencing.
2 equal lengths of chain from the corners to your tow bar or hitch for pulling.
If you find that you are snagging obstacles like racks or stumps you can install a small tire to act like a shock absorber near the hitch.

We used to maintain a gravel road like this and pulled with an old jeep.

I used to drag a pallet (top side down) loaded with rocks around here.
I'm a Cheap-skate though, if I had the money, I'd buy a tractor with a
box scraper.

i would use the fence with a angle iron on both ends and drop a cender block or two on it.when clearing out the trails we drag a 8' section of chain link fence behind the rhino or other utv we are useing.it really does the job on the weeds and dirt leveling.
