I looked on E bay at a 6' 68" cut Bestco, heavy duty flail mower for $1,950 (EFGC-175). Upon doing a little research by reading the warranty I found it was made by Han-Sun Machinery. Does anyone know if these are being sold by anyone under other trade names? What is the quality like?

Bestco is offering this New 68" Flail Mower EFGC175 Cat.1 3pt 30+HP Rating for $1,950 with free shipping anywhere in the US. It has a two year warranty with a one year warranty on things like blades and belts. Hammer knives are available as an option. Does this sound like a good deal? I would think if someone sold these locally I could pick it up for much less.

Bestco is in Oregon (also on eBay) and I have dealt with them a couple of times. The owner is easy to work with.

The products are made in China and are cheap for reasons other than just inexpensive labor. As long as expectations are not too high it is a decent buy.

Not sure what one would do if repairs or parts were needed.

There are several people on TBN with the Bestco so you might search to find their experiences. I would say that the price being charged now by Bestco is essentially the same delivered price as a 75 inch Caroni flail. There is a lot more experience and better parts supply with the Caroni which is from a well respected Italian Ag equipment company.

I'm one of the guys with a Value Line /Betstco 68" heavy duty flail. I've only got about 45 hours on it at this point and all with the hammer knives. I love it. At this point I've cut all the areas I used to cut with my Rhino SE5 plus new areas that included some guava trees, wainaku and cane grass, and unseen rocks. Broken/replaced several knives and shear bolts. I definitely like the flail cut better. As for parts, Betstco has any parts you might need. I also found Keith a pleasure to work with. Where I live, I couldn't find a used flail for the price of this new one and shipping is ALWAYS major concern. Never seen a Caroni other than online. It appears the VL has the same number of knives (28/56) over a shorter cutting length, but the VL also weighs about 150lbs more than the Caroni. I'm assuming this weight is metal.
Mine is heavy duty, 1/4" steel, all the welds looked well done. Visually, I found it compared favorably to my friend's Gearmore. I did have a blemish or two but chalked it up to shipping (open crate), but they have melded with my own inflictions. I would NOT hesitate to buy another.

Hanmey Agricultural Machinery is listed as the manufacturer. I did do some Google searching and found several other sellers in US and Australia, but I don't recall the site names.

Hope this helps.

I have a slightly used model of that flail. I think mine is 74", but that may probably be the case and the cutting area is probably only 68", boy have they increased in price! I am not using mine and I am willing to unload it for way less than the new price, if you are interested. Send me a PM.

These flails are Chinese

EF155 Flail Mower with CE products, buy EF155 Flail Mower with CE products from alibaba.com

Don't own one, but I may buy one to see how it works. I've had good luck with some Chinese stuff (chop saws, miter saws, pancake compressors) and have bought my share of Chinese junk (mostly wrenches, screwdrivers, etc).
