Good Mornin Guys,
As winter really sets in and the temps start dropping like a stone, you can only feel relief about that woodstove that keeps your family warm...

Coupled with the fact that fuel oil prices are really climbing, of course they are, the temps are dropping, all that hard work you put into that wood pile seems all worth it now !

Most of the guys on the forum know that Im a displaced toolmaker/modelmaker, who now hauls and delivers petroleum products. I get a daily reminder of what the current prices are, and they are only going up !

Yesterdays #2 fuel oil daily price at our company was $3.099, cash or check price was $2.999 .

I met another driver at the terminal that drives for one of the major companies in the area, and their daily price was $3.35 yesterday !

Just enjoy that really warm feeling that your not held hostage by the fuel oil companies ! ;):):D

I've heard some of these tanks hold 500 or more gallons ... thats $1500 to fill one. How long does 500 gallons last?

I have a Harman wood/coal (only burn wood though) and that is the best stove I have ever used. I enjoy the work gathering firewood because it warms you 4 times. When you cut it, when you split it and when you burn it.:D

In September we had more wood in the shed than in any year past. However, we've been running the wood boiler for over a month now and we're blowing thru wood like it grows on trees. We try and stay out of the woods during deer season, so I have one more Saturday "off" before I can get back and cut up the "ready to burn" stuff. It is times like this that I miss my college age sons...

Put in a new fireplace insert last year, so far it has done great..we've had 3 mornings lately in the mid 20's and it was 75 in the great room and 67 back in our bedroom. Perfect, I like it cooler for sleeping:thumbsup:
I really had reservations about the EPA stoves but this thing is amazing, when burning right, ie not right after starting or a reload, there is absolutely no smoke visible.
This week is supposed to be down in the 20's again, my heat pump hasn't run in weeks:licking:

Yes I do know 20's is nothing for ya'll up nawth....;)

Hey scotty, still total wood heat up here in NH. I am sitting on about 8-10 full cord of seasoned wood and just starting to cut wood for two years down the road.

And the vermont castings defiant keeps us pretty warm.
