Gallinippers! Monster mosquitoes poised to strike Florida - CBS News

The Sunshine State, already home to man-eating sinkholes, invading Burmese pythons, swarming sharks, tropical storms and other disasters, can expect to see an explosion of shaggy-haired gallinippers (Psorophora ciliata), a type of giant mosquito, according to entomologist Phil Kaufman of the University of Florida.

PS: For those not familiar with Snow Birds, they are retirees that return to FLA when it snows up Nawth and stay through the winter.

I was driving on the West Coast of FLA more than a few years ago, well I was riding at this point not driving , and there were some many Love Bugs smooshed on the wind shield I was trying to figure out the number of Love Bugs per square inch. I think I figured between 5-10 but it was hard to tell one smoosh blob from another. :shocked::laughing::laughing::laughing:

The window washers at the rest stops on the Turn Pike only worked to a point. The sprayer and wipers just kinda move the bug guts around. :shocked:

Everytime I drove across "Alligator Alley", I would gas up at the Seminole Shell Station, coming and going. An Old Timer told me to always carry a bottle of Coke - Soda that is. It works and clears the "Guts" off the windshield. But One should go to a car wash as soon as possible, because the acid in the Guts messes up your vehicle's paint job if left on for very long. Dragonflies are a BITA also on the Alley. Just before Dusk they come out like Locust.
