Squirrels can be pretty agressive. When I was in high school, I was out hunting for deer on a fall morning in southern Wa. I was moveing slowly along the road, glassing the small clearings and cuts under the powerline as I moved along the maintenance road. Up the road a bit from where I was walking, a rabbit came scrambling out of the brush and ran toward me. About half a second later a squirrel came out of the same place hot on the rabbits heels. That squirrel chased that rabbit, which was about 5-6 times it's size, about 20 yards towards me when the rabbit floundered/stumbled crossing a large mud puddle. That squirrel hit the rabbit like a freight train and they both rolled over in a furball in the puddle. The squirrel came up on top and was really giving that rabbit a thrashing. I couldn't tell if it was the squirrel or the rabbit that was making the squeeling noise but it was loud. This puddle was only about 30 feet in front of me so I continued to walk toward them. About 10 feet out, the squirrel noticed the movement and looked up. When it saw me approaching, it let go of the rabbit and ran for the brush. The rabbit didn't move, It was in shock. In fact, this wild rabbit was so in shock, that it didn't move when I walked into the puddle and picked it up. I held onto it for a few minutes and it just gave me a blank stare while I looked it over. It had cuts and scratches on nose, ears and front paws that I could see. I set it in the grass alongside the road and moved off a bit and continued to watch it for a while from a nearby stump. It eventually hopped off into the bushes slowly. Freakyest thing I have ever seen in the woods.

My wife and I were Geocaching this summer and a squarrel fell out of a tree that we were under, nearly landing on both of us. After it landed, it just sat there for a few seconds then tried to climb back up the tree but couldnt, it just kept falling off.
I slipped a pair of leather gloves on, which I didnt need, picked it up and took it home for some rehab. It was very docile and easy going until a couple days later when it had recovered. Once recovered, it was evil. Here it is on release day with a big mouthful of my glove.

Well, here's one for ya: I had a squirrel come in my classroom window and go from student to student jumping in their laps. Eventually it left the room but a few days later I saw it in the boiler room. It was quite friendly and it took a couple weeks to get it out of the school because it kept coming back. Every open door or window was another opportunity for it to come in. Weather was warm and we don't have AC so we just had to deal with it for awhile until it moved on. Squirrels can tame pretty easily. When I was a kid we had one that we fed and every morning it would climb the screen on the sliding door until it got it's food. We think the school squirrel was likely raised by people. Wild animals don't generally jump in your lap and want to be petted. I have a rather tame raccoon here. When she first showed up 7 years ago she scared me because she was always following me around. Every time I turned around she would sit up and beg. Not normal behavior for a wild, nocturnal animal. Well, she's been here a long time now and I don't worry about her anymore, but she sure scares other people. They will call me on their cell phones from my front yard and say, "I'm not coming to your door, there's a big raccoon sitting here on your porch!" I assume she was also human raised. Every March she has babies and some of them also think they are my pets. A couple summers ago I had 4 raccoons following me around all day!

Back in the day I shot telephone cable trouble for GTE in southern California. They sent me up to San Fernando Valley and for the first time in my life I was exposed to large squirrels.

One of the reasons I was there was the squirrels like to gnaw on the lead sheath on the cable. They'd gnaw a hole in the cable and then when it rained the telco service would go out. I'd get to go find where they'd eaten through and fix it.

It was explained to me the reason the squirrels gnawed on the cable sheath was to wear down their teeth. In the wild they manage this with their diet, nuts, acorns, etc. But in the city they'd adapted to dog food and scraps etc put out by humans. So they instinctively chewed on the cable.

One time I was working on a repair in mid span. I had the ladder in a sling we put up so we could be comfortable while working. I heard a noise, loud, irritated sound. I looked to the right and there was a squirrel on the cable giving me a cussing. I cussed back, being cute. It took offense. It charged and ran right across the splice and off into the horizon on my left. It shook me up. I'd never been charged by anything like that before.

Another time I noticed a squirrel on a slack span next to where I was working I carefully reached out and snapped the cable. We use to stun birds, sometimes kill them by doing that. When the wave hit him he rode it on down the line. He was going ninety miles an hour and the whip had him going three hundred and sixty degrees on the cable but he never missed a beat.

An old lineman taught me how to nail birds on a line. It works best on the drop from the cable to the house. You reach out and carefully grab the drop. You pull it down slowly as far as you can. When you've got it down as far as you can possibly get you release it. The whip is like a wave on the ocean. The bird doesn't know it's coming until it gets there. Most of the time they'll fall like a rock. Then they'll come to and fly off no worse for the wear most of the time. Sometimes it killed them.
