On 7/13 I posted - MY 3400 FORD TRACTOR/LOADER/BACKHOE is FOR SALE (thread now closed)
I had listed the machine on E-Bay for a 10 day auction with a reserve price not shown.
The comments here on TBN came fast and furious......a total of 275 posts!
The hands down winner for negativism was....."radios1".... who is the proud owner of a John Deere lawnmower, but actually also knows absolutely everything there is to know about medium sized TLB values.
Tied for second place in the negativism category were "Ovrszd", and "4750Man",....... but at least they actually do own tractors.
The auction stalled for a while at $3850, and eventually got up to $5850 before it closed.
"Radios1" knew for certain it was already too high at $3850.
All 3 above stated that the the $5850 auction ending price was the absolute most that the 3400 TLB was worth.
The thread can still be read here on TBN, but is closed for further posts.
I had set the E-Bay reserve at $9000....thus the auction failed.
THREE DAYS LATER I posted the 3400 TLB on Facebook Marketplace for $9750.
2 days after that, I received a phone offer of $9000, but of course, I said ...... show me the money.
The buyer could not come until next week (150 miles away).
On Friday a person called from 85 miles away, and said he would like to drive down to see the machine, and would be here within 2 hours.
He showed up on time!
Wrote me a credit union check for $9000 which I immediately took to my bank.
The bank advised that the check will clear by Friday of this coming week, and the buyer may pick the machine up any day after that.
What I have learned from all of this?
DO NOT EVER CONSULT WITH........ the owner of a John Deere La145 lawnmower, to determine TLB values.
"Coobie".......from a "Masshole",........ you "Cow Hampshire" guys are first class!
