BFGoodrich commercial TA tire recall

I have 12 of the Commercial T/A's on my trailers. I'll be checking with the tire store next week. The Michelin XPS Ribs are a premium tire.

Unless something has changed in recent years that I don't know about (which is a possibility, of course), B. F. Goodrich, Michelin, and Uniroyal are all owned by the same company.

That is correct Bird. Michelin is there top of the line brand, followed by B. F. Goodrich, with Uniroyal being their entry level tire. Michelin wants to make the best tires overall, and have the best tires in each price range.

My commercial traction T/A's just got taken off for weird wear but they are not in the recall. 265's. I only got 10,000 miles out of the fronts. The rears are at 50% wear at 12,000 miles roughly.

I am not sure what the warranty is, but I would think you should be able to get something out of that...some sort of prorated replacement at least.

eh.... easy to argue that the customer failed to do the correct maintance on his/her vehical which resulted in the abnormal wear. ie you just wrecked your car/truck and failed to get it fixed and it had extreamly poor alignment, but drove it anyway..... it happens

We had Michelin 265/70/17 M/S tires on our 97 F150 4wd. We got 70k miles out of them. I did not rotate them often, maybe twice, but always kept the air pressure at 36-38. Rode nice and had no road noise. My 06 F250 4wd had BFG tires A/T and when I sold it with 60k miles they still had decent tread left. I like how they stepped up quickly so we did not end up with another Firestone debacle.

Of course I mentioned the B. F. Goodrich tires on my 2001 Ford Ranger. But we bought a 2002 Ford Crown Vic in January, 2009, with 41.400 miles on it at the time. It had (and still has) P225/60R16 97S, Michelin Symmetry tires. I picked up a nail in the left rear a year ago this month. Discount Tire fixed the flat at no charge, then sent me e-mails offering to rotate the tires at no charge, and I've let them do it, even though they didn't sell those tires. The car now has almost 68,000 miles on it and the tires are still in good shape.

If or when I need new tires for the Ranger and/or Crown Vic, I hope Discount Tire still has, or can get, replacement Goodrich and Michelins just like what I now have.;)

I just keep buying Michellin LTX singles off Kijiji/Craiglist for 10-30$, sometimes they are the spare with no tread wear and come with another rim. Have a full set of spare rims now. They have none of the weird wear issues and are much quieter.
