Backhoe BH 75 Backhoe for Massey 1736

Good evening!


I need your guys help with deciding to put a woods bh75 on my Massey 1736 hydrostatic. I called a local dealer and he basically said if its a hydrostatic I知 wasting my money due to the loss in power. When I asked specifically what he meant by that he said it drives like 殿 dog on a hills side or with a load in the front bucket. If any one has a backhoe on their Massey Ferguson 1736 hydrostatic could you please let me know your experiences.

I have a Woods BH75 on my Massey 1635 Hydro and I have been very happy with the combination . The 1635 is similar to the 1736 I believe, just an earlier model. I run the bh on the tractors hydraulics and there is more than enough power to run the hoe. The Woods sub-frame mounting system seems very strong and I can move the tractor along with the hoe while trenching which is nice. I don't have to remove the 3pt arms when the bh is mounted, only the sway bars need to be swung up out of the way. I can put the bh on and off the tractor in just a few minutes using the hydraulics to position the bh and it seems easier than wrestling with some heavy 3pt attachments. As far as driving with the bh on the tractor, I see no difference except maybe better traction with the added weight. I hope this helps.

I really appreciate the feedback. I honestly didnt want to invest in another tractor for the backhoe. I'm not sure why this seemed like an issue because I've notice, even with all the small series, a hydro and backhoe make up a great combination. I just wanted to make sure before I invested in the backhoe that I was doing the right thing.
