Backhoe BH > Do you carry replacement hydraulic hoses?

I'm thinking you'd be a good candidate for "Field Attachable" hose ends.....just survey your common hose sizes and hose ends, buy a length of hose (10 or 20 ft) and a few hose ends for your "survival kit" .....

DHH and other hose shops have these and they will get you out of a jam.....if you don't have the right end you could always go in to have another hose made locally with your hose material (providing you stick with the same brand of the local guy)

Field attachable hose ends have their place and this would be my suggestion....

I've had my B20 for 10 years and have not had to replace a BH hose yet. I have replaced two of my loader hoses due to wear. Your eight hour commute is a long one and I understand your concern but I don't think you need to. Just keep an eye on then and inspect them. When you see any wear, buy a new one and bring it along.

Years ago when doing hydraulic service work on the road, I used to have a few lengths of different sizes (1/4, 3/8, 1/2) of hose coiled up inside of a 5 gal pail w/ lid......then I'd carry another 5 gal pail (w/ lid) of asst field attachable fittings and tools ........ usually just male pipe and JIC's.....the lids kept everything clean and organized...

This stuff banging around inside of a service truck used to be protected till I needed to make a hose.......

Cutting a hose I'd put the hose on a block of hardwood on the ground, then an old sharp axe resting on the hose, and whack it with one quick blow with a medium sledge.......it was a quick way to cut without the braids coming apart....

Not the way I do it today but it did get people out of a jam, and that's what counted......:)

I feel if it aint broke, don't fix it. In 25 years I only replaced 2 hoses due to failure. Caution!!!!!!!! hot oil does make a mess and burns too. Good preventive maintenance goes a long way, but anything can and will happen at the most inconvient time. I wouldn't know which one to stock, with all the different legnths I have.
