Recieved the new tractor and plan to practice removing and installing the BH this weekend. When the dealer delivered it and was going through it he pointed out that the lift arm linkages were disconnected from the lift arms when the BH was installed. His reasoning was that if they were connected someone could activate the lift arms and do harm to were the lower arms connect to the BH.

Also the Top Link was connected but very loose. He said that they only sold about 4 BH's a year and he wasn't real familar with them. (That made me happy:confused: ) He did say that the owners manual didn't say anything about it and I looked and he is right. It's very light on installation and removal of the BH.

I knew as he was talking that I had this great source of knowledge and you folks could hook me up with what should and shouldn't be connected.

So, can you tell me do the HY lift arm linkages stay connected or not? Should the top link once connected be tight or loose?

Thanks guys, I'll take some pics of the removal/installation process this weekend.

gregkabob,

Granted, your tractor is twice the size of mine however the operation should be close to the same.

When my 756C is attached to the 24DA, the hydraulics come from the FEL valve. When coupled, the 3PH lift is disabled or "taken out" of the system. There is no chance of the arms being raised when the BH is on. The only thing I remove prior to installing the BH is the toplink of the 3PH.

Hope this helps, I'm not sure where your BH picks up it hydraulic supply from.

Thanks for the info, just wanted to be sure it was hooked up right. The hyralicks are hooked up with on hose close to the back behind the rear remote hookups and the other way toward the front. I will have to get under the tractor (could do it from kneeling but will be easier to just lay down) and disconnect the line which I bleive is coming from the power beyond.

When you put the top link on do you tighten it up or do you hook it up and leave it kind of loose?

Greg,

My Woods BH90-X installation manual for the TC35-45 series tractors calls for the 3-pt lift arms to be in their lowest position and to connect the arms together to prevent excessive movement during backhoe ops. I removed my lift arm stabilizers and "locked" the lift arms down in their lowest position. However, it still possible cause damage if someone tries to figure out "what does this lever do"?. Therefore, if you think that's a possibility then it's best to remove the lift arms as well. All depends on who touches your baby.

As far as the top link is concerned, I have removed mine. Not sure how much difference your NH BH is than my Woods.

Greg,

You find that taking off the lower arms completely is a piece of cake once you do it once or twice at the most. It gets it all outta the way and no worries about "goof-ups"....besides the danger that one little mishap could do to not only your new equipment but a person!!! I also take the top bar off of mine as well. You'll probably find out that in the long run you will keep the backhoe on more than anything, especially having a bucket on the front....I don't use the box blade near as much.......
