The Kubota BH75 is a good $1000 cheaper than the Woods BH70x backhoe. For intermittent use around a home (i.e. non-commercial use) is the extra $1000 justifiable? The BH75 seems to have slightly better specs than the BH70x, but I've read that the BH70x is deemed more durable. Both options are with the L2800/3200 subframe mount.

For me, any extra reach is a good thing, and I think the current BH75 /76 backhoes from Kubota are very good. I would look at the BH76 myself to get the thumb option availability, even if I chose not to put one on right away. Early issues with the BH75 were resolved, and I think that is where the durability talk came from.

I don't know where you're getting your info from, but there's no way I'd take the Woods BH70X over the Kubota BH75.

The BH75 is more hoe with more reach and more power, and hands down will out-dig the little BH70X.

In actuality, the BH75 is about as small as I'd want if I had an L2800. But after putting my BH75 through it's paces in some of the toughest digging a small backhoe will encounter, I'm totally impressed with its capabilities.

Now if you were asking if the BH75 could compete with the BH80X, then I'd have to admit that the BH80X would be the way to go. But if the little BH70X is really $1000 more than the BH75, then you'd be crazy to not save $1000 and get the more capable BH75.

Check out the link below to see some pics of some of the stuff I've dug into with my BH75.

I agree with Bandit67 on the Woods hoe. Just the additional reach to me, makes it better! I made a decision in '78 for the construction of our new home, to purchase a bachoe for my Kubota L295DT. I was already "breathing through a straw," and was trying to save money with thoughts of buying the smaller hoe; the dealer said, you may reget it, the larger one (9') offers much more capability.

I still have the tractor and the larger hoe, and thank myself for one of the fewer wiser decisions. For trenching, you will have to move the tractor less, able to dig deeper, reaching in to difficult areas is a plus with the additional reach also. I think the quality of the Wood's is better too; and a future thumb may also be added.

I have a BH75A attached to my L2800 and have used it quite a bit. It does everything I ask and does it well. If it is a thousand dollars less than a similar size Woods, buy the Kubota 75. You will like it and I guarantee you will never say to yourself, "I should have bought the Woods."

I went thru a similar conundrum.
But - Can the Kubota BH be easily fit (for the price of a subframe) on my next tractor?
That's the question I asked myself when I went for the BH70-X over the Kubota B4672 backhoe.
I'm not tied to Kubota, and would rather have gotten a Kioti for my "training" TLB, but couldn't find any 23HP with FEL for less than 8K. Looking at the Woods website my $7K BH will fit a lot of other tractors.
I'm sure the true orange will work better with the OP's tractor.
