Kubota L3400 HST w/LA463 & BH75
Good morning - This is my first post - but I have spent the past month reading thousands of everyones info and tips/etc.. Thank you to everyone who contributes to this forum it has been great for a new tractor owner.

Here is the situation - while excavating a small area for a gravel driveway - after about an hour of use - suddenly when I went to dump a load of dirt, the backhoe bucket would not dump.. ?? Furthermore, it wont curl properly either - it acts as if it is confused.. moving in either direction and sometimes opposite directions but its very limp. If the dipperstick is fully extended - it wont do anything when you move the controls left or right..

My tractor is a L3400 HST almost new with just 10 hrs - about 4 of it with the backhoe.. All other functions of the backhoe work properly - just the functions having to do with the dipperstick/bucket cylinder..

My local dealer had me recheck all connections - everythings ok..
They thought it might be some frozen moisture in the "detent" ? tried heating it with a heat gun - to no avail - its about 55' now and still not working..

I searched and searched and couldn't find any similar scenarios here.. I took a few pictures of the control valve bank - I think they show the detent on top and bottom, I don't know a thing about hydraulics (yet).. anyone have any suggestions? I'm sure this would be covered under the warranty, but I don't know about pickup and delivery of the tractor back and forth to the dealer - so if I can fix this myself I'd appreciate any thoughts..

Thank you again ! I also posted a video to youtube showing the controls and the response..

Hey, Check your three point lift, lever, position, I have found if I leave it down, as in putting the control, off center, it causes hyds not to function correct

Welcome to the forum.

There sure is something amiss. That just isn't fair with only 4 hours on the backhoe. I would talk to the dealer and see if they will wave the pick-up fee on that new of machine. My best guess is crud of some sort in the valve body. It is not something I would risk opening up myself. You don't want to void any future warranty claims if the valve is bad.

I might be tempted to open the lines to the bucket cylinder and see if there is a blockage.

Good luck

How about your fluid level?

I would disconnect & reconnect all hydraulic hose going to tractor/backhoe.
It happen to me once; that the connection was in, but not fully in, causing the same problem you got there in the video.

Thank you for suggesting that - I did however disconnect and reconnect all hoses and I get the same result.

All fluid levels are good..

It was picked up by the dealer this morning, I will post an update once I hear what it is/was..

The rods connecting to the valves for the stablizer arms are using clevis and locking pins, whereas the BH rods connect to the valves using nuts and bolts. Is this normal? On my BX they are all clevis and locking pins.

For a 3 post newbee it sounds like you did everything that an old hand would have done. It's a head scratcher fer sure.

You don't want the TPH lever in the full up position either. Put it in the middle.
