I was washing my tractor earlier and luckily noticed a serious crack in the subframe of my backhoe:

It's in the identical spot as in this post, which has this pic:

Lucky for me the break isn't completely through so there's no twist on the other member (which doesn't have a visible crack itself).

Figure I'll get a professional welder to put some extra plates around that area on both sides as I don't trust my skills or 120v unit to do real work ;)

Who’s the manufacturer of you bh76? Your subframe does not look like a kubota subframe to me… at least not like the subframe on my b3300 and bh76.

Not hard to understand why it's broke, right at the point of the weld/piece ending where the stress would be concentrated.
Wouldn't be a terribly hard repair, V it out a bit, weld it up and add suitable reinforcement from the diagonally cut piece to the underside of the horizontal tubing.

It's off a Branson tractor, thus the Branson forum. The manufacturer is Ansung.

Roaded the tractor down the road to a very conveniently located shop - just barely a mile away despite us being on a little country road 7 miles from town. I occasionally buy metal from him; I've built a number of gates for my property. The tractor managed in high range quite nicely on the couple of rolling hills.

Welder noted there's a crack starting on the other side as well; of course I'd intended for any fix on the obvious side to be done on the other side as well to reinforce it.

The tractor was really bouncy driving down the road without the backhoe on it! I still had the loader, though no bucket; I bungie-corded a SMV sign to the back of the backhoe bucket on the way there and then to the top link attachment point for the way home and had flashers on. The SMV sign came with the tractor, bolted on, but I'd removed it very early on as I almost never take in on the road... never had, till today.

I'll get some pics in the next couple days. Welder did a great job (as expected, he's a real pro and does large structural jobs around the county), put some big plates to sister.

Backhoe is much less bouncy now, much quiter when driving around - apparently some of the creaking I heard previously was from the crack and not the backhoe shifting on its hooks!
