Kubota's website listing for their backhoes has a note at the bottom which states

"L3130 and L3430 must have the LA723 Heavy Duty Loader installed to be compatible with BH90 (9' Backhoe)."

The new L4400 is listed on Deen's website with the LA703 loader. Assuming that loader is in the same category as the LA723 (seems like it should be), will the L4400 be able to take the BH90? I'd much prefer that 4-pt hookup but I don't want a Grande-L -- too many bells/whistles and too much $$$. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

By the way, the local Kubota dealer told me this morning that the L4400 wouldn't be available until June. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Hi,
My local dealer said the bh90 will not work ont the l4400. Looks like you have to go with the l4330 to use the bh90. I have been considering this setup. But the l4330 is such a light tractor; I may have to go up a bit to the 5030.
You can come up here (mo right above AR border) and pick up a l4400; they have one on the lot. If it is what you want let me know - maybe we can negotiate a lower price buying two tractors at once?!!

Don't know if this will help, Ark, but here it is anyway: The L4300 I just bought wouldn't take the BH90 either. It was listed as being compatible with a L4560 9' Back Hoe. Comparing the specs of the L4560 to the BH90 showed them to be very close in their capabilities, however the L4560 list price was about $2500 MORE expensive than the BH90.

Reading further I found that the L4560 came with a self contained hydraulic system powered by the tractor PTO...whereas the BH90 is powered by tractor hydraulics. This explained it for me. The lower hydraulic flow rate of the basic tractors (6.4GPM for L4300 vs. 9.8GPM for the Grand L's) makes a second hyraulic pump necessary...at least for the L4300. I'm aware that the L4400 has a stronger implement pump than the L4300; something like 7.8GPM if I remember the specs. from Deen's site. But that still might not be strong enough for the BH90.

I share your disdain for bells & whistles but, if you're sure about wanting the BH, you might want to be looking for a deal on one of the simpler Grand L's with gears. If they handle the L4400 the same way as the L4300, they'll end up getting your money anyway.

BTW the L4560 required loader installation also. In my case it was a LA682. No, I haven't bought the BH yet. $10K installed is kind of a big bite....but I'm thinking about it.

FWIW.
