Last year I fed my BH a nice live juicy 2" water main. This year I forgot to feed him so when my back was turned he took a bite of gate.

Some say the FELs must also be fed but the studies are inconclusive.

Ron I was finished with the garden gate project 3 days ago and was working on my transplant project. If you are still in the area we can do the gate project AGAIN!

Mike, I guess I can't laugh at your metal bending designs anymore.

Too bad it didn't attack the gate that actually needed attacking. (I think you are the one with the bent, rusted, gate). Am I correct?

Don,

Mine ate a phone line a few weeks ago, but mostly it enjoys taking chunks out of trees that I'm trying to save.

Didn't you realy want a pretty green gate there anyway?

Mine gets fed the rain shield over the shop door - usually 2x a year and it's good to go.

Once you get really good with a BH you can wipe out things with the (partially retracted) stabilizers too.

When I had my backhoe on the city property I used it to clear snow from my property. I cleared snow and hauled it to the lot behind the carriage house. Clearances were small and I had to carefully thread the machine around corners and through a gate. Snow slid off the roof of the carriage house and made a pile. I started to drive over the pile. The left front end climbed up the pile. The right rear dipped down and mangled the pipe frame gate. It was awful. I was forced to buy a Miller Big Blue 500 in order to repair the gate.

You can keep BHs unfed as long as you have a really strong structure to put them inside and behind lock and key. Of course, that's no fun...:( ;)
