I have been looking at the kit at Bailey's which as I understand it, bumps the 365's displacement up to that of a 372. I have been very happy with my 365, but wouldn't mind a little more oomph for blocking up larger maple, yellow birch, etc. I had the opportunity to use a 372, and could feel the extra HP with no weight penalty.

Is this a worthwhile upgrade? Any other parts or adjustments required? Will I sacrifice any durability?

Yep, you can read all about this kind of thing on arboristsite.com.

But to answer some of your basic questions.

1. Yes you should notice a difference. This actually gives you MORE displacement than the 372xp. The 372xp is 74.7cc and this kit will put you at about 76.5cc's. So almost 12cc bigger, yea you will notice.

2. Worthwhile??? Only you can answer that one. You say you have ran a 372xp and you have also ran your 365, so is the $$$ inversted worth the extra performance.

3. Longevity???? That is still uncertain. These newer big bore kits are supposed to be better. They have the NISI coating which last longer than chrome, and they also have a moly coated piston. BUT they are still made in china so?????

4. Extra parts, that depends on what 365 you have. If yours is a 365sp (special) and it has the walbro carb, then nothing extra is needed. That is the same carb setup on the 372xp. But some of the 365sp's and the non sp's had a zama carb. You will need a different boot that goes from the carb to the cylinder.

I'd wait till it needs a "Husky tune-up" rather then to tear a good running engine apart.

Ironhand - I am very interested in the responses to this post since I am considering doing the same to my 365. I have always wanted a 372xp but couldn't justify the cost. I found my 365 in like new condition and gave $260 for it. I guess I'm thinking that with the big bore kit I can own 372xp performance for a total investment of under $400!!! I have to check my carb setup to see if I need the extra parts. I will watch this thread closely.

The 372xp is 70.7cc, the 372xpW is 74.66cc and the big bore afm top is 76cc. I have all 3. From a 362xp-365SP-372-375-376 I like to call them all.
