Big Explosion in Beirut Lebanon yesterday

Huge blast at the port, levelled everything within a mile. I read 100 killed 3500 injured.

All over my favorite fertilizer, Ammonium Nitrate. Read that there was 2500 tons of the stuff in bags stored in a building and it went off. Saw the video, looked like an atomic bomb blast. Building vanished along with everything else.

Exactly the same.... 2600 tons in Lebanon. Woowzer.

Watched the one video feed where they guy was crossing some bridge about a mile away filming the fire and it went off and about 3 seconds later the windows in the car blew out and the air bags deployed. Bet that was an eardrum busting wake up call...

It just leveled everything.

Nothing like storing 2600 tons of Amonium Nitrate next to fireworks and having them catch fire. Read it's been stored there for years too. Kind of surprised it was never sold. No issue now, it's gone...

Kind of not so bright on the part of the owners of the port and the building (that isn't there anymore).

What you use for explosive extender in 'wet hole' charges when blasting in a mine. You mix it with diesel fuel into a paste, put some in the hole, insert a stick of explosive, put in some more 'mud' and plug it. Makes a huge bang

If I remember correctly, the ship in Texas City didn't explode all at once. The stuff in Lebanon did. One huge whomp.
