To the TBN Community,
This is a note to let everyone know what a tremendous job Ibrahim and his crew did over the past 48 hours on TBN.
The maintenance on TBN was undertaken to perform essentially a total upgrade of the entire environment we use to provide TractorByNet.com and various others sites we operate.
Ibrahim sat in his chair (fortunately an Aeron /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif) for almost six straight hours, directing and managing what turned out to be the largest and most complex upgrade ever undertaken for TBN users.
TBN has brand new, upgraded severs, with double the hard drive space, more ram and the latest operating system upgrades.
More importantly, we have implemented various core level security upgrades and backups that ensure all of the 250,000+ monthly visitors to TBN can go about their surfing in an unhassled and secure manner.
Yes, we do have various advertisers who not only provide financial support that allows us to provide all of services to all of you without charge; but we believe the ads are welcome by the vast majority of users, as relevant offerings for their tractor-related interests, information that is very difficult to locate anywhere else.
Only a very few people can appreciate the dedication and raw intelligence needed to maintain these web sites (TBN, CBN, HBN and others). In this case, many gigs of data had to be very carefully backed up and then re-created on new servers. This is a laborious process that can go awry at any moment. Installing operating system upgrades is especially challenging.
While it did take most of the afternoon, Ibrahim performed this upgrade with a degree of skill and professionalism that everyone has come to take for granted here on TBN.
I think all of us can just take a moment to express our appreciation to him and his staff who work so hard --- including our world class moderators --- to keep TBN one of the very best communities on the Internet.
