We've had a lot of rain for months & months here in NM.
One of our twin Daughters - Katie was on her way home from work one day and came around a corner and saw this -
This is the mountainous road that leads up to our neck of the woods. We often ride our Motorcycles up & down it for fun & to get our mail at the post office.

That brings back a memory of an experience I had about 15 years ago.
Going home late one night on the interstate. It was late on a weekday, hardly any traffic. I could see the tail lights of a car far in front of us and the headlights of a car closing in behind us. I knew the car behind us was a police car because I had passed him about a half mile before. I was going about 80MPH but I was a sheriffs deputy at the time and I knew the officer so I wasnt concerned about it. All the sudden I realized that I didnt see the tail lights of the car in front of me anymore. A couple seconds later I passed through a dust cloud and couldnt see anything. A second later I see this huge boulder, about the size of the big one in your pic, laying on the shoulder and a car flipped on its lid behind it in a ditch and all kinds of scrape marks on the interstate. A rock had broken loose from a hillside beside the interstate and tumbled into the roadway. The car that was right in front of me hit it and flipped end over end. They pushed the rock just out of the roadway or I wouldve hit it as well. As it turned out, the car hit the rock going about 80MPH, my police friend had just clocked him and was after him to pull him over. The driver had head injuries and the passenger ended up with back injuries but neither was life threatening.
My buddy didnt ticket them.

When I lived in California 6 or 7 years ago, I drew a special muzzle loader late season deer tag. I was driving along the Eal River above Willits in a heavy rain storm on my way to the hunting area.

There were these little rock slides along the road from all the rain, but none of the rocks were very big. Nothing even close to the size of a mans fist. After one particular slide of those small stones, I noticed my Bronco wasn't handleing very good. It felt kind of soft in the rear end. I pulled over and saw that one of those rocks had tore out the sidewall of my 33 inch BFGoodrich Mud T/A.

I had a spare, but didn't want to spend a week in the woods without a spare. I turned around and drove back to Willits to find out there was only one tire store and he only had one 33 inch tire for sale. Yup, it wasn't a very good brand and it cost twice what my Mud T/A's cost.

I did end up shooting a buck that scored high enough to go in the record book if I wanted to enter it, so the the trip turned out good, but it sure got off to a bad start!! hahaha
