In previous posts, I have mentioned I am currently running a modified 7.3L Power Stroke diesel. I have considered trading trucks later this year, but might wait until the new 6.4L comes out to do so (12 mos??) One thing I did not do to my truck is install a billet torque converter. I have heard limited data on these devices, but all positive. What, if any, advantage would such a thing offer, and is it "worth" the money and labor to install? (I know the latter is a subjective question). Although my truck does have some mods on it, I do not drive it hard, and even though I do tow heavy when I do, that is not very often.

I'm not being smart, but if it's not broke I would not fix it. If I had the tranny out for some reason I might do it. It's your money/decision. Heck, as fast as the time goes by any more, 12 months for the new truck will go quickly. If I were buying your truck used, and you told me it had a billet torque converter, I wouldn't give you a dime more for it because it had one, but that's just me.

I would pay less if I knew. I would presume the truck had been beat on and may have problems.

My feelings exactly...

The question is, why would you concider it? If you arent racing or towing allot, why waste the money?Personally, I work on allot of P/S Diesels and find it amusing how the market convinces people they need something they realy dont.. Seriously, I'm not slamming you for inquiring, just curious if you have thought the benefits through and if you need it or maybe someone suggested you did.. I relate it to the guys that installed K&N air filters on their trucks because Jim Bob told them they needed it and it would give them 50hp.. These guys always end up complaining that the engine didnt last as long as they were told blaming it on the manufacturer instead of the filter that allowed all that dirt to dust the engine.. I wouldnt do it unless you need it..

This is exactly why I do not have one on now. I had an opportunity to get one with the package/system, but was not convinced it offered much and did not know enough about them to consider it. I appreciate the responses so far. Since my truck is already modified, I was inquiring to see if such a device would offer any additional efficiency to the drivetrain. If it does not, then I am not interested in doing it. The extra power of the system I have and the fact it runs cooler is nice, but that is objective data, not subjective. If the TC is subjective, then I do not need it.
