OK, got a new engine to install in my Bison, but ran into the slightest hesitance... The previous engine had a mechanical distributor, this one has an electronic distributor. Quick question and this will sound silly to some one (my apologies). The previous distributor cap had one wire to the coil and one to the condenser. This one has a black wire going to the coil and a red one hanging free. I think my mental block is because I'm used to red going to hot (or the coil in this case) and black going to ground. However, anyone who wants to make me feel more at ease (or dumb), please confirm that the red should be grounded... That's where I'm heading tomorrow... Enough for tonight. I'm just praising God that I have a good turning engine and that by His grace, tomorrow I'll have an engine that fires up!

It sounds like the black wire is the signal wire telling the coil when to fire. The red is probably for power for the distributor from the ignition switch.
There would be no need for a ground wire since the distributor is grounded. This is just an opinion, so I would find out for sure before making any connections.

Actually, that makes sense now that you put it that way. I'll do some more research like you said, but that would make sense. Thanks!

Yup, she worked. Got her to fire up by God's grace.

Congratulations. Good to hear. Thanks for posting your results to let us know it worked.
