I'm looking for a drill press. I was in Tractor Supply tonight, and saw that they had a Black Bull brand drill press. It looks okay; 16 speeds, 260-4220 RPM, 5/8" chuck. The table rotates around the main post, and tilts 45* to either direction.

Has anyone used this press? It looks like it will do what I want to do, but I wanted to get y'alls opinion.

I have the black bull from tsc. it works ok- but it wobbles for fine precision pointing to drill. the laser light isnt really worth a darn- its nice to have , even when adjusting it to make it right- it seems to be off since the collet seems to wobble. I used the drill press to drill big holes in metal. Once I got the bit started, it stops wobbling.

I figured the laser was more of a marketing thing than actually useful.

What part of the press wobbles? The table and the chuck, or just the chuck? The one they had assembled on the floor seemed pretty solid. Does the chuck wobble on the shaft, or the shaft in the head?

I really don't need anything incredibly precise right now, but there's no telling what I may want to do in the future.

I bought the floor model at my local store. They knocked it over and dented the belt cover. I beat them down to $125, and honestly, I'm impressed with it considering the price. It drilled / cut holes like nobody's business. Oh...... almost forgot, the laser doesn't work, but I don't care.

chuck part only. the table and everything else is really solid. over all its a good buy for the price. IF the chuck didnt wobble off center, then I'd give it 5 stars.

Why so many holes especially the cross tube, isn't the cross tube weak enough as it comes from the factory?

I bought a TSC drill press, and it too seems to orbit the bit around the intended hole.

I have one and use it to drill 1/2" and 3/4" holes. It works great for my use.
