I admit it, I went out on Black Friday this year. Got stuff for my kids and decided to treat myself too. I got a Werner 4' type 1 fiberglass ladder for $17.00 and a Battery Tender for $37.00, both at Home Depot. Anyone else?

Wife and I didn't even give a thought to going out on Black Friday, too many crazy bargain hunters to contend with. Neighbors went out and said it was a mad house with shoulder to shoulder shopping. That is not for me even if it is a bit cheaper.

In lots of cases the store counts on the hype to get volume without any real savings. In some cases the sale price is even higher than everyday price across the street.
Then there is 'on sale atXXX, regular XXXX', but that said store NEVER sold a single item at XXXX much less even shelved it at full 'suggested list'.

No black Friday mad dash for me.
Watching news and they have proven some outlets jack the price week or so prior to sales day than low price back...hmmm...besides ain't that women job. ;)

Nope no part of that here either had to work anyways...still the Milwaukee M12 2494-22B combo of drill/impact driver, tool bag, 2 batteries, charger and xtra 3.0 XC at the HD is a pretty good bargain @$99!

Saw some good looking prices on stuff in the HD ad but I don't go shopping on Black Friday. I'm at the stage where I don't really need more stuff in general. It seems like tools are a bargain these days compared to back when I did need more stuff.

The tools that look expensive to me now are the cordless drill/drivers, saws, etc. I don't use those tools enough to warrant owning cordless models, when I do use them I'm near power. Bury me with my lead cord.

The items I got were definately at a bargain, for the kids too. I agree though regarding the general BF consensus. The ladder normally goes for $58, I know because the ex wife took mine in the divorce, so I bought two. The Battery Tender normally goes $59.99. HD wasn't a mob scene at all. Got to HD at opening 0500hrs, free coffee.

Surprisingly HD had some really down to earth shoppers and employees. I actually had fun talking with people.

Target, not so much fun, but I avoided lines and the looney toons.

After seeing avaricious behavior in our kids, we stopped celebrating Christmas a couple of years ago. The kids were sad, until December 26th when they could buy all the stuff they actually wanted for 40-70% off.

We are going skiing Christmas Day.

In other words, we didn't buy a thing, yet.

Sat here in my chair and got some pretty good savings for things we need. No way in heck would I actually visit a store when I can order over the Internet which saves me time and money and I sure as heck ain't going near a mall or store on Black Friday! I have barely been in a mall twice in the last decade or so.

I needed some clothes and got 25-35% off. New running shoes were around 50% off. The kids need new PC's and got those for 58% off which was a heck of a saving since I figure 25% would be pretty good. Splurged and bought a set of headphones that were nice to have, we already have on set but I wanted my own and it was about 40% off its usual price. Just one more thing to buy and we are done with XMAS except for a few gift cards.

Later,
Dan

I went to Wal Mart in Bozeman MT for the 6 pm Thanksgiving deals. Waited in line for about 30 minutes to get an Ipad mini for $199 with a $30 gift card. I also picked up a 48" TV for $219 from Best Buy. That was it for deals unless you count the Northern Tool corner clamps I bought on Ebay. There was a Buy 3 get $45 off so I got 3 shipped to my door for $155.
