Mahindra 2555 - 2018
My 2015 model #2555 is blowing black smoke and the engine light came on. I already changed the air filter and the fuel filter.

Black smoke generally indicates a too rich mixture or lack of air flow. If changing the air filter didn't cure the problem check that you have a clear air path between the filter and the air intake on the engine. If that's not it the next step may be a compression test. It would help to know how many hours are on the tractor and what may have caused the tractor to start blowing black smoke. Does the engine seem to run properly otherwise? Does it respond properly to the throttle?

350 hours on the tractor. The engine does run ok. It does respond to the throttle. It is burning a lot of fuel too. I don't know what caused it to start burning black smoke. Thanks for the information.

Are you running low RPM's and soot building up?

I overlooked the part where your engine light came on. Your tractor is large enough (over 25 horsepower) and new enough (newer than 2014) that there is probably a lot of computer control. You will probably have to contact the dealer to read the computer and see how things are configured. In all likelihood you have a diesel particulate filter and it may not be working or regenerating correctly.

Dirty injectors and wrong fuel injection timing do the same. Run a compression test first. Also make sure that nobody added gas instead of diesel to the tank.

Bad injector. A computer will tell the dealer exactly what's wrong.

Thank you. I think you are right about the dealer. I guess they will have to put on the computer to figure out.

Thanks. Will check out.
