I am wondering some opinions on a product that will remove those awful streaks on my R\V. What works good,is easy to apply and will last more than the next rain?

thank you-

I have found that WD-40 works great for removing dried bugs and tar from vehicles. Spray it on, wait a couple minutes and wipe it off.

I have the same problem with my RV. There are a number of products I've used successfully to remove the streaks. I can't remember the specific names but they're available in any RV section of WalMart for example.

As you point out, the problem is keeping them from coming back. I think the only way to do that would be some kind of coating for the rubber gaskets around the windows that revitalizes them so that they don't chalk up and streak. Anyone know of something that will do that?

WD-40 to remove the black streak marks. I would suggest using 3M "Dry Type" Silicone spray lube on the rubber gaskets. I use this on all the rubber for my vehicles, tractor , and boat. It actually preserve & penetrates the rubber keeping it soft and pliable much longer. Should stop or slow down the streaking.

I never found anything that would keep them from coming back but Camping World sells two different products specifically for cleaning them off. I have a sneaking suspicion that WD-40 would do just as well if all you want to do is remove the black streaks, but what I usually used was NuFinish car polish.

My RV Center sells a wash designed to take off the streaks (I think the guy I spoke with said it's just more concentrated than the regular wash). I used regular car wash and a lot of elbow grease. What the soap didn't take off, the RV wax did.

I don't think you can prevent them from coming back.

We always bought a product called Black Streak Remover. Used to buy it at either Camping World or Wal-Mart. They used to say spray the camper down and use this. I found that diluted down too much and would just spray it on the streaks dry wipe them off and then proceed to wash the camper as normal.

Jim,
Black Streak Remover worked very well for me when I had the camper. And full strength was the way to go /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
