thanks -do you think that skid shoes would have helped further in conjunction with the tail wheel (keeping the blade ends from digging in) or was it not an issue?
can you reverse the blade with the tailwheel attached?

Leaning towards the woods as my dealer quoted me about a 200$ difference and it is 60 lbs heavier and seems to have all the features and quality of the land pride.

I had not tried to rotate the blade with the tail wheel, but I measured when I got home and yes the blade can be rotated with the wheel in place. I set the blade 1" above the gravel and I didn't have a problem with either end of the blade digging in. That may have been because I had used the blade to smooth the driveway a few weeks before the snow so the surface was already aligned with the blade. I think the skid shoes would be useful for plowing drives not already shaped by this blade, or if the blade isn't equipped with a tail wheel.
