Need your opinion guys. Going to look at a Blizzard 64" rear mount snowblower today, used for $1700. I own a Massey Ferguson GC2610 w/ 19.6rear PTO hp. Can I go for the 64" over the 54"?? The 64" is rated for PTO hp of 20-35 where the 54" is rated for PTO hp 16-35. I'd really like to ... it's a sweet deal. But I don't want to be pushing my red too hard. What do you guys think ... will I be alright buying the 64" Blizzard??

Thanks a ton in advance!!

How about the weight difference? It sounds a little big to me...

It's only a 26lb difference between the two. The 54" weighs 408lbs vs. the 64" at 434lbs.

I thought about the 64" for my 26 hp Kubota, but decided to go with the 54". My tractor is a little larger than yours. If there were that much difference in price I might have been more tempted. The dealer I bought it from said he thought the 64" might be pushing it a bit, and he had nothing to gain by saying that.

I don't know much about your tractor.- But you might want to talk to this member.

He has a Blizzard 64" blower that is too big for his tractor, and he wants to sell it.- He lives in "your area." NY/VT

I run a 72" rear blower with 22 HP at the PTO, with no problem whatsoever. The secret is the HST. If your tractor has a hydrostatic tranny it should handle 64"; if it is gear driven it may or may not, depending on reverse gear ratios.

Is the blizzard that much better built than the Meteor? I paid $1,200 for a new one of the same size...... I use it hard and it has held up very well.

And what herring said about the match of your tractor and that blower.........

I run my blower on a big 3 x 6 speed tractor with plenty of power. Power is not the problem. There are times I wish I could go slower and other times I wish I could go faster. The gearing is the grief point.

Your tractor is a sub cut so I'd stay with the smaller unit. 64" is a big unit for that size tractor.

Since they both weight about the same, as long as you can lift it and have an HST, I'd go with the one that has the biggest diameter fan. Width is less important, as long as it comes close to covering your rear tire width. The wider width might be a little harder to push, and you might have to put your chains on sooner some winters. But the fan is what does the work... Get the biggest fan, keep your groundspeed slow enough that the fan/tractor is barely bogging down, and you will blast the snow the farthest....

Hey guys,
Just wanted to thank you for all the replies & good advice. I went to look at the blower & came home with it. I"ll use the B64 for the rest of the winter & see how it goes. I have a 400ft gravel driveway with a slight hill at the top. I have chians all the way around & will either have the FEL or a 60" plow on the front. So all in all I'm hoping it'll work out. If not, I'll sell it & go to a B54 instead. Shouldn't have any problem making my $$$ back.

Thanks a ton for all your input. Really appreciate it.
