Need your esteemed opinions on this one. I'm going to check out a Blizzard 64" rear mount blower today, used for $1700. My rear PTO is 19.6 hp. The 64" is rated 20-35 PTO hp. It's a sweet deal & I'd like to pick it up but am I pushing it?? Should I stick with the 54" which is 16-35 PTO hp?? The 64" weighs in at 436lbs while the 54" weighs in at 408lbs. Not a considerable difference in weight ..... what do you guys think?? Go for the 64" ??

Can't thank you all enough for your input on this.

I think as long as you dont go full force into a snow bank you should be OK. The first pass would be the hardest but all there after should be fine if you take your time. With the hydro you can go as slow as you want. The tractor should have no problem lifting it. I have a 60" on my 1528 and it seems a little big but I have never had a problem with it working well.

Do you have a paved drive and are there any big hills?

I am using the Blizzard B54 on my GC2310 with 18.7 PTO HP and it runs it just fine, even the heavy wet stuff we had a few days ago was not a problem. I have a 500 foot crushed asphalt driveway with a nice little hill, also. I am sure your tractor, with 19.6 PTO HP will do a fine job with the B64 and $1700 is a good price if it is in good condition. I paid $2,300 for the B54 new. Besides, if it does not work out, you could always turn around and sell it for what you paid and buy the B54 instead.

MEhorsefarm,

Glad to hear of your experiences. I too have about a 400ft gravel driveway with a little hill at the top as well. I'm glad to know your GC2310 does just fine with the 54" blower attached .. even in the wet stuff. Where we are we get our fair share of snow.

For the past 7 years I've been plowing the driveway with a Foreman 450 w/ a 48" plow .... so I'm definately glad to get my GC2610 all rigged out for the winter. I went & checked out the 64" Blizzard & came home with it. It was in really good condition and as you say I should be able to get my $$$ back if I need to sell it & go down to the 54". I don't think it should be a problem either though.

Congrats on your new addition. It is always exciting to get a new attachment. I am sure it will handle it just fine. I am always amazed at how much these little tractors will do. The hydro will help. Now you will have to rig up some rear-facing work lights. Please keep us posted as to how it works.
