I want to add a block heater to our Deere 110TLB. Has anyone done this and can provide some advice?

Thanks in advance for any help.

ZeroStart - 310-0003 - Freeze Plug Engine Heater , 400W 120V

My 4310 also calls for the AR87167 block heater. I used the zero start that I linked to above. I think it fits in several of the Yanmar engines.

It is a good quality part and made in USA to boot. Probably the same as the JD part but comes with a 3 foot cord instead of the 6" cord. Plus it's only $29 instead of $80.

If you search my profile I did a build thread when I put mine in a few weeks ago.

JMHO. I'm gonna add a heating pad style add-on to my oil pan from Kennedy Diesel. It warms the oil in the pan. I use one on my truck and car. Heating the coolant seem less important.

I don't know if you are still in need of any help, but I recently installed a block heater to a 110. Here is what I can say. I used the zerostart brand. Seems to be well made, as stated likely the same as Deere only a longer cord, and less $. To remove the old plug I used long 1/2 extension, breaker bar, cheater bar on breaker bar, and some light cussing. Ended up changing coolant due to amount lost. Consider draining it first. Installation of new plug a little more fun, It's a 1 3/8 hex! found a crows foot and a wobble extension to be the way to go.

Thanks - if we do it, that's what we'll do...

What effect did it have? Even though it's pretty cold here in Vermont, the 110 always starts. On cold days, it takes a few cranks and then puts out some smoke for 10 or 15 seconds. Do we need a heater to give us some engine "protection" or is it overkill?

Thanks

I can not speak as to it being helpful, as the 110 is not currently located in a cold climate region. But there are many (non 110) posts that will debate that topic to no end. If I was that far north, I would use it for 1-3 hours prior to starting it. some people use timer controls (think: operating lights, etc when you are on vacation), others have remote control capability so they don't have to leave the house to get the heater turned on. I also installed trans fluid heater (also zerostart) and ran both elec. plugs to battery box. total cost for both and elec plug cover for trans heater (not included with trans, but is with block heaters??) under $100

Hi there, do you or anyone have the ZeroStart part number for the Transmission Heater? Many thanks,

Dave

the one I ordered was 860-9624, it is 150w, there are higher wattage ones available, but without knowing exactly what deere uses, I felt better to be safe and use the lowest wattage unit.
