Block heater location?

   / Block heater location? #21
I see Kevin beat me to it. Mine is in the exact same position as his in relation to the radiator (the BX is a reverse airflow design), and looks just like his. The plug in the engine screwed out and the Heater screwed in...all there was to it....

Scott:I appreciate your reply and insight./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif and Kevin for the great photos /w3tcompact/icons/clever.gif. Did you have any signifigant loss of coolant when you removed the 17 mm plug? ....RayBee

As an afterthought, since Kevin so nicely documented the Block heater installation, I'm including a before pic. of the plug on a 2710. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif..RayBee

I have no idea if they lost fluid. This was a dealer install. They don't ship them out without a block heater in our neck of the woods /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif.

Guys,
I can't thank you all enough for taking the time to help. I noticed in all your pictures that the hose kubota is suggesting I remove and plug, has been relocated to below the heater. I can only guess that this means the designer thought the hose serves a useful function or they would not have keep it on your newer machines.
I think I'm going to try to find a heater that fits a freeze plug or just go back to using my heat lamps to keep the machine warmer.
Thanks again all...

buzst:I noticed from your profile that you're from NH. I bought my 2710 from Chappell's in Milford and found them to be helpful with my questions. You might try their knowledge base. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif ..RayBee

Raybee,

I just installed a block heater in my JD4110. Detail listed under "Parts/Repairs" . I did have about 1 qt. of coolant come out of the block after removing the plug. I would suggest draining the radaitor (to release pressure) before hand otherwise you will get squirted with collant. Plugged the heater in for about 4 hrs to test it. Motor was warm to the touch and she started just like it was summertime. Good Luck with it ....
