Hi I just installed a New Holland brand block heater in my 2007 TZ25DA. I torqued it to 25 in/lbs and it doesn't leak but I can easily rotate it 30 degrees from the recomended 6 o'clock position. Is this normal? Thanks, Steve.

Steve, I have had a block heater in my 1700 for 30 years with no leaks but it does not rotate. Wait for more opinions as I am not a mechanic but I think you need to tork it until it quits rotating. It may not leak now but I bet it starts leaking at an inoportune time when you are working the tractor in 10 deg weather moving snow or a 105 deg day when you are moving dirt. But like I said, before you do that, get more opinions.

If it's like the ones I have installed there is a toggle-type bolt that has two wings that contact the inside of the block casting. The center bolt then tightens to pull the o-ring against the block. No way that should turn in the machined hole in the block - seems likely to leak some time. The newer one I put in 3-4 years ago the wings were too weak to permit a tight seal, so I salvaged the wings from the old one. Kind of a flimsy design as I recall.
