Whenever I get my new woods blower back from warranty work:confused3: I would like to adjust the skid shoes and im looking for reccomendations. The cutting edge is non replaceable but it has a flat 2 inch wide 12 inch long skid on each side of the blower. It will solely be used on asphalt but possibly for some commercial work. So id like to get as clean of a pass as possible without having to worry about grinding my cutting edge away unknowingly after a few hours. I was thinking of backing it up to a flat concrete shop floor and using 1/8 steel plate to set under the cutting edge on either side, then tapping the skids a hair below that?

All cutting edges are replaceable, some just require cutting and welding to do the job.

I run mine with the skid shoes not even touching the asphalt.

LOL, going all technical on me, and yes I have a torch and welder:p but Id like to take advatage of the skids since it could see quite a bit of travel across the pavement. So looking for that best compromise hieght between longevety and clean asphalt. Maybe just enough so that the skids ar taking the weight. I dunno, the snowblower shenannigans is new turf to me, been plowing and bucketing all my life.

You can try leaving the skids down a hair, but it won't scrape the driveway. There will always be that little bit left.

Try it, you can always readjust later.

I do only paved surfaces and set my skid plates by parking it on a flat part of my slab, placing two paint scrapper blades under the cutting edge at two points that were in contact with the slab, the setting the skids. This probably keeps the cutting edge about a 32nd of an inch above the slab. There will always be points of contact between what is always uneven surfaces on driveways but generally the skid plates will bear the brunt of the contact. I only adjust them once a year doing 300 feet of driveway each snow (total snow about 50" per season.)
