Hello,, I have a F350 with a windsor 351 in it. It is a fairly new rebuilt motor in it, anyway it just started blowing oil out of the valve covers. This is the second time that it has done this, the first time I thought maybe that I had put to much oil in it, and it blew out oil till it was on the add a half a quart mark so I left it right there and it didn't blow anymore oil. Then the other day I changed oil in it and filled it up to where it had been or close maybe a little more and I hauled hay for around 400 miles and then this morning it did it again. So I thought maybe someone here could tell me whats up. I let someone talk me into putting that new quakersate oil in it with the slick 50. I hope that, that is not the problem. I have heard differant stories since changing to this oil, that it can clog up your oil passage ways. Blackfoot

If it doesn't blow oil out running half a quart low, I'd watch it and run it like that, it's still in the safe zone, don't know about the Quaker State clogging oil passages.

A friend of mine had a similar problem with a car he bought. He finally figured out his dipstick was too short. If you know how many quarts it should hold, you could drain the oil, put the exact amount back in and check again.

Are you sure that they put valve cover gaskets on it? make sure that they are snug. Did you check the PCV valve?

Shouldn't be to difficult to figure out why it's doing it. For starters where is it coming from? Out the fill cap, PCV valve, cover gasket.... If you provide the year of the truck I can let you know exactly how much oil it holds. If you take the fill cap off the valve cover do you get any smoke out of it? Does it seem to be pressurizing? Try sticking a short piece of hose near the fill hole and see if you can get a strong smell of exhaust.

Well Gentlemen, Here is what happened, It appeers that I had some moisture in the PCV line. When it turned 30 below it froze and when it warmed up, well everything went along just fine and nothing built up preasure. I sometimes think that the cold weather affects me as I just can't seem to put 2n2, 2gether. Thank you for helping out. ,, Blackfoot
