Well, I think I really messed up this time. Was bush hogging with the L2500 Kubota 4WD , and the PTO quit after working on some rough terrain - The PTO shift lever feels like it is operating, and when I look in the oil breather hole I can see the fluid churning when the PTO lever is engaged. I pulled the PTO output shaft out of the rear of the tractor and had a look around - no obvious broken parts, the shaft and the coupling looks fine. I am thinking it is the over running / one way clutch. This looks major - I am not afraid to split the case and do what needs to be done, but I am thinking I may be just as well off to take it to a pro by the time I drive around and chase down all the parts. If it is going to have to be torn down I may as well have a look at the 3-point hitch lift assembly as it has been misbehaving for some time. I am looking for someone who has opened one of these up before who can steer me in the right direction - I have a shop manual and have rebuilt auto transmissions before, but never had my hands this deep in a tractor, I'd appreciate some pointers, thanks !
