About 4yrs ago I got a set of 3M bluetooth ear muffs. Love them but they slowly got quieter and quieter over the years, it's a known issue with this brand. Now the foam around the ears is falling apart.

Any one have any thst will last? Dont need AM/FM.

Bose. They were pricey, I forget the price but they have lasted 10 yrs so far and now they hang on the tractor in the barn. Original battery holds a long charge and the headset announces the percentage of charge when turned on which is helpful. Sound quality is awesome. I'm told they sound great on the phone too.
They are my go to mowing wear. Listening to music while mowing is my main use.

X2 on Bose. I have them for mowing. Very nice.
I have the Stihl Blue Tooth logging helmet for sawing. Works/protects very well.

I bought a pair maybe a decade ago. Died about the month the warranty ran out. Bought another pair, same thing.
Now I just buy good muffs and cram BT earbuds (~$15 and up) into the lining.

I do the same.

I use these Bluetooth earbuds from Bose and cover them with a pair of standard ear muff style hearing protectors.

When not listening to music, the noise cancelling feature can be used to eliminate noise that gets past the ear muff protectors.

The foam padding always seems to wear out on these muffs after awhile. This way you can replace them without having to replace the more expensive Bluetooth muffs.

I use the 3m Bluetooth headsets. When the padding wears out I replace with silicone pads, that are readily available.

Is there any model, reasonably priced, with a boom mike to allow conversations even with the earmuffs on?

Well, I'm a cheapskate and use the Q20i Soundcore headphones. They're an Anker brand. They work so well I bought another pair for use in the house when watching movies. The noise canceling option works great. I use it when Z-mowing and tractoring. And the rechargeable battery lasts a long time. They have multiple price levels so you can be as snooty as you can afford but still not break the budget.

Isotune, Link or Link Aware. OSHA compliant attenuator muffs, with Bluetooth added. I have two pair, the "Link Aware" which are mounted on my hardhat/saw helmet, and the other the Link2 with a headband I wear on the tractor and in the shop. Thinking of buying a third pair to mount on my Trend Air Helmet.

I have the 3M work tunes Bluetooth headphones. They have been working well and I haven’t experienced the issue that the OP is having.

Same here. I've had a pair for easily 15+ years but no bluetooth on that one. I replaced the ear pads last year.

I mow approx 7 acres at my property. With originally a loud Deere x758 and now with an equally loud Bad Boy Rogue zero-turn. I've used Bose Quiet Comfort 35 bluetooth wireless noise cancelling headset with great results. Reduces the overall mower noise and gives me great music audio. They were pretty expensive back when I first bought them but now they can regularly be had on sale for under $200. Still might 'pricey' if you're comparing to other simple noise reducing muffs but not at all bad for good quality audio headsets. To me they are worth their weight in gold for mowing and airplane trips.

If you have muffs you like, you can wear earbuds under them to get Bluetooth. A pair of noise canceling earbuds, worn under a good pair of attenuating earmuffs is highly effective.

Learned that courtesy of a couple of wildland helitack crew members. The hook into the intercom while in the aircraft. And occasionally someone will crank the master volume up. So, they wear the noise canceling earbuds inside their headphones to avoid the extremely loud sound hurting their ears. Plus, the earbuds knock out the rotor whack and turbine whine of the helicopters, while allowing the voices to come through.

Same here. 4 or 5 years on mine now.

I bought the 3M WorkTunes Connect with Gel Cushions back in 2022. They work great for listening to music and taking calls on the tractors or mower. They are exclusive to Amazon but are out of stock. Guess I should order replacement cushions before they are out of stock.
