I found a nice tractor, with a little over 100hrs, that was barn kept 'till last year... Sitting out, the red on the cowl and fenders has somewhat faded, or blushed in areas. I'm sure one of you has dealt with it - be so kind and tell me if it's buff'able .. or is it something I would have to live with?

It will buff up some, but the results may be short lived unless you keep a coat of wax on it regularly.

What type of paint is Mahindra using? I'm assuming it's not a base/clear, but rather an acrylic or maybe even a laquer?
I'd like to try to freshen up the pink tractor (6000). I remember using some turtle wax stuff a few years ago that was wax color and buff all in one. Maybe I should search for the can.

Lwaw.. You're right about the waxes. We're lucky to be living in a new age of Sealants and Waxes.. The better ones have UV absorbers in them.

jwc.. I don't think they could afford BC/CC. A single stage Urethane make sense. Lacquer might make a good choice in the Third World where they could simply shoot it in the paddock it drys so fast.

I didn't want to be rude but that paint on this tractor looked pretty old for being three years old. Not as bad a as a NH I looked at that was 5yrs old and never saw a cover or barn. What a shame that was.... (except it has been flogged in construction anyway...)

New Holland paint is impregnated into the gelcoat, so it can very easily be brought back to new with a fiberglass/ plastic polish.

Due to being painted in India I thought their was a good possibility they still use laquer. Laquer wasn't all bad.
Anyone know anything more about the paint system?

The other part of my business is an auto collision repair shop. (LaWall's Collision, 30 years in business) My experience working on the Mahindra's tells me that the paint is a single stage enamel, but I have never had any imfo from Mahindra to confirm or expand on this.

I have seen a few pink Mahindras but at least they are mostly metal. Leave plastic in the sun for an extended time and see what happens.

My 4 yr old, 560 hr 2615 had few bings from a dropped block off the FEL. I busted the rust off and spot sprayed it with a high dollar can of "New Mahindra Red" from the local dealer. I think I could off matched it better with any metal paint product. I never thought of my tractor as pink, but now I do...cheap factory paint. If I had some fresh decals I would paint the whole thing army green.

When I repaired my damaged hood on my 2615 I painted it with New Holland Red (#5339-05) enamel I bought at the local TSC store. It seems to be just a touch darker but close enough for me. Friends who saw my damaged hood ask me if I bought a new one when they see it. Of course with my tractor being 6 years old the rest of the paint may have blushed a little resulting in the slight difference.

Paint it green and paint the rims yellow. It'll be worth TWICE as much!

My tractor is kept in the garage well over 99% of the time. The paint on the fenders and hood looks pretty good but probably is a little faded. I keep it hosed off but dont wax. What bothers me is the 3 different shades of faded red. The hydraulic cylinders on the loader are VERY pink, the loader frame is definitely another shade of red/pink. What doesnt make much sense is the backhoe cylinders are the same color as the backhoe. Both the Loader and Backhoe are made by KMW? in the states so I would think they would have the same supplier and paint for the cylinders.:confused2: What really bothers me is the frame of the machine where the cast parts didnt get enough paint at all and it has a uniform rust bleeding through what paint is there. Im not trying to win a beauty contest with my machine and it gets used but Rust just pi$$es me off. I bought a new tractor because I was sick of working on my old rusty cars and trucks, and I didnt need another rusty project. I would put the quality of the machine up against Kubota anyday however, knowing what I know now about the paint on my 3 year old machine, I would have taken a harder look at Kubota for the price difference between the two. My Mahindra will look like he-ll in 10 years being in the garage compared to a Kubota of the same age. Im still very content with my purchase, but Mahindra needs to step it up in the paint deparment if they want to be taken seriously in the long haul.

I bought my 2615 used about 1.5 years ago. The paint on the tractor looks good however the loader is a little faded. The previous owner kept it under a pole shed. He told me he took the loader off sometimes so I suspect when he had the loader off he left it in the weather.

I remember being told the loaders from KMW were powder coated; thus the problem with fading to pink. I don't know what powder coating has to do with color deterioration. For most of its 5 years, my tractor has been under cover. However, the loader is beginning to look sick. So much for field testing your poor choice of finishes, KMW. We Mahindra owners deserve an apology, at least.

My 2000 New Holland TC40D Boomer with 16LA loader, has been parked outside since new. All of the blue fiberglass (no metal or plastic) looks almost like new. I spray waxed some areas recently and it brought the surface shine back completely. The loader still looks brand new. The bucket needs to be painted on wear surfaces. (gray)

The seat needs to be replaced as it is splitting at the top. The dash and controls all look new after a shot or two of Armorall protectant.

Rust on wear areas like the frame, engine, trans, rear end and 3 point/pto areas are easily rectified by using a wire brush, brake cleaner and a coat of the matching factory paint.

The rims have went from a shiny white to a dull white so I'm thinking rubbing compound will fix that.

I do power wash the TC once in a while and then blow it dry with an air hose and high pressure. I then spray WD40 on all moving parts.

I do wish that I'd kept it in my barn but it's full of other crap!
