Im looking for information on a Bobcat 520,

It has auxiliary hydraulics but Im not sure where the switch is or how to run them on the machine... there isnt a lever in the cab that I have noticed.. any ideas?

The Kohler motor has a bran new interstate car battery but wont start, It will turn over but not fire. Although if you hook the battery charger up to it and turn it on "boost" the motor will fire and run. Do I need a larger amp battery? timing issue on the valves? or?

Does anyone have a photo or description for the quick attach levers on this model? It currently does not have the mechanisms to lock the bucket into the quick attach frame and no obvious brackets where a lever might have once been.

Thanks
Ian

Hey,
I can help with the hydraulics but not the engine problem.

You turn on the aux with the right hand drive stick. To turn it on "forward" tilt the whole handle out toward the cab, to reverse pull in in toward your knee. You can still drive it while doing this. If the handle doesn't want to move it most likely means the aux was never used and all you need to do is tip the cab up. Look down where the right drive handle pivots and you'll see a lockout bolt there. Just take it out and put it aside and try it should work fine (if you don't have an attachment on it will lug down or maybe stall the engine that means it works. Don't bolt the cab down yet. After you've tried it tip the cab back up and look at the valve where the aux linkage ends up fron the handle and see if you have any leaks. Old seals (30 yrs may not like being used all of a sudden).

Having said that if you're just curious if the aux works and have no plans for using attachments, probably best left alone.

Very common on machines that old to have never unlocked the handles as SSL's were primarily poop and dirt movers when that one was built.

Last note, if you are planning to use a continuous running attachment like a breaker or even auger for any length of time, the air cooled machines have limited ability to keep themselves cool so watch out for over heating.

Sorry didn't see the bucket question. Do the tilt cylinder and loader arm pin right to the back of the bucket on this or is there a "plate" between them that those things pin ? I thought they all had bobtach but might me wrong. I can find pics and pass on later.

great information guys thank you!

the only attachment I might run would be a log splitter for a short period.

The attachment is identical to a quick-tatch but there are no handles or physical signs of where a pivot point might have been so Im a little stumped. BUT there is a square tube that lines up with the bucket pin hole. most likely holding a pin if it had one.

any photos would be appreciated! thanks!
