bobcat 610 _ carb & ex. manifold?

Im no master mechanic... actually have very limited experience..but owning a farm and equiment means diving in and doing what needs to be done.
Anyhow... I had a fuel problem with.my bobcat 610 and a clogged filter and carb, so i replaced the carburator with one I had on hand. In doing so, realized the exhaust manifold was cracked where the bolt holes are...probably due to incorrect use of the metal gaskets by the former owner, and overtightening to compensate. Im jbwelding the manifold pcs ba k together.... but want to confirm that the intake and exhaust should all have metal sleeve gaskets rather than paper. Does anyone know this?

Also... after putting in the new carb (rebuilt.. but in package since 1985) it did not run as well: low idle would die, med or high idle would rev up and down plus high idle was not quite full power. Any ideas on what I can adjust?
Also seemed to be running a bit hot.

I am in the same boat. I just bought a 610 bobcat and have basically the same issues. I did figure out that it doesn't like hot days and it appears to vapor lock. It would conk out at idle and would get blubbery at high rpm.That ended up being 2 crossed spark plug wires. I just took a pair of pliers and pulled the wires off the cap one by one. Two did not make a change. I realized those wires were crossed. That made it run like new. How long does yours run before conking out? Is it pumping gas when it acts crazy?
Sorry I am no help with the gasket question. I will keep an eye on this post to see what people say for my own interest.

Well I managed to get it fixed. I used all metal gaskets on the intake and exhhaust... plus red high temp sealer. I also had to fashion some thread rod and angle iron to better bolt down the manifold as the jbweld didnt hold. I will try to get some pics.
Runs good now with the new carb. I think the problem when i first put it back together was leaks in the air intake gaskets
