Can anyone please tell me what the correct hydraulic oil level would be on this machine, there is no dipstick. Thank You

Don't own one, couldn't find a manual that didn't cost$$ to download; finally found a "demo" page, click on the pic to enlarge.

A lot of older equipment has a filler and a level check plug - plugs were typically a small pipe plug like the pic says. both my tractors and the backhoe use that system, I find it's easier to ALMOST remove that level check plug - the threads are tapered (NPT) so you can just leave 1 full thread engaged and wiggle the plug after putting some fluid in - if it starts to leak around the loosened plug, tighten it up and you're done. Sorry, couldn't find info on what type fluid... Steve

Hello Steve, Thank you for your reply. I too wasn't able to find any downloadable service manual that didn't cost. When I didn't see a dipstick attached to the fill plug I did take a quick look on the outside of the machine for a fill plug and didn't find one. Since I have the cab tilted forward I have yet to check the inside of the cab for any oil level plugs. I did dip the take with a piece of hard wire to discover only 4" of oil, I guess that's understandable with the oil leaking from the top of the pump. As for the hydraulic oil type, I just thought I would add some generic multi purpose (CHEAP) 10w Hydraulic oil. I can't see that vintage of a machine requiring anything special.

Between the tires on the right side are two 1/4" NPT plugs. The top one is the max level, when oil starts coming out it's full. If you start taking the lower one out and oil starts coming out it doesn't need any; it's like the lower mark on a dipstick.

For whatever the reason, those two 1/4" NPT plugs are located on the left side of this machine and between the wheels as you described. The top plug is off set to the right of the bottom plug and about a 2" difference in height, would this be correct ?

They are on the left side, I stand corrected. I was picturing it setting outside the shop door when I was checking things, but when I just now went out and looked there they were.
