Bobcat CT225

Local dealer just recieved a Bobcat CT225 in on trade. At this point I am not sure of hours or year. I stopped in Sunday night and saw it. It looks pretty clean. They are asking $13,500. It does have the FEL. I intend to use this tractor mainly for loader work, moving lake weed, mulch, top soil. Occasionally running a garden plow and rear tiller.

My main questions are, is this a decent price for this unit and does it sound like it would be enough tractor for my needs. Is there anything specifically with this model that I should look for or be made aware of. I originally wanted a Kioti CK30, however financial restraints are limiting my purchasing ability at this time.

The CT225 is a fine tractor. Very capable. I think well matched to your chores.

A year ago some of the last remaining NEW CT225s were selling for $14,500 firm if I recall correctly.

Depending upon hours and condition, I think the dealer's asking price is a reasonable starting point. I believe you'll be able to negotiate the price lower.

If you have an LS dealer nearby it might be worthwhile to check out an XJ2025. There was a guy who posts here that bought an LS J2023 new for $12,200 close to a year ago. The XJ2025 has recently replaced the J2023 so I am not sure if there would be any J2023's left. If not, the price for a new XJ2025 still might not be much more than the CT 225 you are looking at. I am not knocking the CT 225 but just throwing another option out there you might not know about.

However, the CT225 is a considerably larger, heavier, wider / safer, (more capable???) machine.

Consider your needs carefully before buying. Price is important but true tractor capability and safety may be more important.

I wonder if $11,000 to $11,500 cash would buy the CT225?

Bobcat no longer makes these tractors. I think Kioti made them though for Bobcat. I just bought a 2012 CK27 with 190 hrs for $13,400. It has a FEL. Very well built machine, weight is 3000 lbs without the FEL. The Kioti CK 27,30 and 35 are all the same frame just different hp. This price for 14,500 seems to be a good price....don't wait to long on it, hard to find these !!

True, Pierrepont, I certainly didn't mean to imply it is an apples to apples comparison between a CT225 and XJ2025. No question the traction will be significantly better with the CT225 due to the weight. I only make the XJ2025 suggestion based on the intended uses.

I too believe the price is just a bit high for that fine machine.

What kind of extra valves does it have? TNT? 3rd function? Under warranty?

I think their price is a mere 1,000 below new price. It would have to be in darn nice condition to tempt me unless negotiated price is lower.
