I recently acquired a Melroe Bobcat M700 circa 1974. It runs good, but has problems with the drive. When you first crank it up, it drives and turns pretty good, but after about 5 minutes, the drive gets noisy, jerky, and almost quits completely. If you let it sit for a few minutes, it will go again, but doesn't last long. The lift still works pretty good, and the hydraulic fluid is not hot. It seems like it isn't getting fluid to the drive motors. I'm also not sure how to check the fluid level. There are two 1/2" plugs on the left side between the wheels, one about an inch lower than the other. Could this be the upper and lower level for the fluid? I have been around tractors all my life, but I know nothing about skid steers so any help would be greatly appreciated.
