I rarely get many cool pictures and got very lucky when this guy strolled by my front door while I was eating lunch one Sunday earlier this year. Took the pics and video using my phone and they turned out much better than expected. Will post the video when I can find/upload it.

Great pictures. I tend to see one every other year, and never long enough to take pictures. One year I watched one play with a mouse for a little while, which was really cool. It would toss it in the air and then when it hit the ground, catch it again. This happened 4 or 5 times, and then it walked off into the woods with the mouse. I was on the opposite side of my pond watching it happen through my binoculars.

I don't mind having them around if they would stay out of the chicken yard. Had one in there twice last month that grabbed a hen by her back feathers each time. Fortunately didn't get them. 6 foot of fence and 2 strands of electric. Persistent they are!

My chickens were out but the cat was much too interested in the spring rabbit buffet.

Tomplum, I am working on fencing my place for animals. Did you figure out how the cat got in? I was planning on 2 strands of electric wire outside 4ft/5ft woven wire fence.

Here's a short video of it hunting the neighbor's shelterbelt:

Our area is less than a perfect enclosure.About a 450' perimeter if I recall. Off the south end a good size maple tree stands 10' outside. Limbs are ~ 8' up. So I circled the trunk high up w/ conduit and hung strands of electric fence. Thinking that's where my great hunter got in, that would block that path. But no, back in 2-3 weeks. The back of the fenceline has an old, dilapidated fence. You can just about step over it. It may be enough of base to launch himself in. No digging anywhere. For fence we have 2x4" mesh 6 feet high with barbed wire buried. 12" down from the top I have electric wire 4 or 5 inches out as well as a strand 4" directly above the fence. This weekend at least one security camera will be aimed there.
A neighbor happened to see him the first time when he was inside. She said he got a hen, but couldn't get her back over the fence. We have an area that is covered my mesh too that they can go out in early am before the Great Horned Owl goes to bed. I love the wildlife, but need to keep the kids safe.

Visited a knife maker at his rural shop a couple years ago; he had a pen full of chickens, that seemed vulnerable to predators; he said that he had installed predator repellent lights that really worked.
